Have you done anything different out of the daily routine recently? How many sun rise do you see in a year? I went to see the sunrise at the Merlion in Singapore. The Singapore Merlion was designed by Fraser Brunner for Singapore Tourism in 1964. Getting there just before sunrise was a tranquil experience before all the bus load of tourists dominated the cityscape . What surprised me was that there were  already a few photographers, tourists and joggers there even before sunrise. The view of the sunrise by the Merlion over looking the Marina Bay Sands and Singapore Flyer was a unique spot to enjoy the early morning in Singapore before the morning rush hour.

What surprised us was that there were photographers, tourists and joggers there even when the sky was still dark. Photo Travel Asia | Early morning walk from the Singapore Merlion

From the Merlion, I snaked through the Fullerton Hotel to the The Asian Civilisations Museum over looking the Central Business District. The weather was clear with blue sky and some morning breeze by the Singapore River. By around 9 am, I could sense the morning rush hour from the nearby train station.

Singapore as a nation has progressed tremendeously in the last 50 years with new skyscrapers and the regional financial centre but there are still the old part of Singapore, preserved in the city. Here is an “old and new Singapore” as seen from the temple doorway (Yueh Hai Ching Temple) at the Central Business District.

My early morning walk from the Singapore Merlion proven to be a productive morning for capturing the atmosphere in the thriving financial district of Singapore. Something different from my daily routine.
