Flamingos in Little Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, India.
Excited about what we were going to see this morning, we left at 9.30 am after waiting for 3 other visitors from Ahmedabad to join us just for the flamingos expedition. The journey would take 1.5 hours one way through the scorching sun and barren land over the salt pan. Despite the direct sun, the morning was surprising cool at 17C. The landscape changed from cotton field to desolated brown soil with cracked lines as far as your eyes could see. Cruising across the desert, it was a pity that we only managed to see only two Peregrine Falcons, a lone Steppe Eagle (perching half a meter above the ground) and a dozen of demoiselle cranes flying above us. If not for the cool air in winter, this journey would have been baking hot and dusty. Flamingos in Little Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, India.
