Dipterocarp at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Singapore, Closure for restoration from 15 September 2014.
I was at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Singapore last week to photograph the seedling of the giant dipterocarp tree. The light under the rainforest canopy was very dim. What made matter worst was the high contrast lighting on the canopy itself making it almost impossible to capture a meaningful image. I used a remote flash to fill-in the dark shadow therefore bringing up the image of the seedling under the base of the mature dipterocarp trees.

I was lucky enough to visit the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore before its closure on 15 September 2014. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Singapore is set to undergo restoration works from Sept 15, with full closure of the park to the public till next March, the National Parks Board announced on June 2, 2014.
The Main Road trail leading to the summit will be reopened to the public on weekends after that, while the rest of the Reserve will remain closed for another one-and-a-half years.
With the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore closure, I wonder how tall the seedling will grow by March 2015 ?
